The meaning behind the design

SHIBAKEN is 柴犬, the Japanese name for the breed: ken is another way to read 犬, dog. The shiba is the smallest of Japan's native dog breeds and one of its oldest, and was named a Natural Monument of Japan in 1936. Around it are a rising sun, gold clouds and seigaiha, a traditional pattern of endless waves that stands for a calm life that goes on and on.
